The eternal search for the other

So I've looked
through a million pages,
of books, of webs
all through the ages,
through people~women,
searched for the one,
mamma can't you see
this damage done?
I've seen myself
in a million faces,
tried to get inside
hollow empty spaces~ searched
high and low for my other piece
Oh father will this ever cease?
have lost my soul my sobriety
laid myself bare
for all to see~please love me
please come fill this hole
in my broken, tortured
lonely soul. Have lost myself,
my want's~my need's, dragged
around by this damned disease
of lonesome, lonely, all alone..
mummy, mummy, please come home.
I tried to be the best I can
by push and pull, an artisan
of fitting, fixing in that nook
to hook me into someone's loop,
but here I am your own life's
spawn, left with no one
to keep my warm~all offers of
a fire-lit room is shunned
I can't attach, this child
is numb, to care and love
of the purest kind~I only
see the bits denied, my
symbiotic split goes on
the search is endless
your damage....won

Author notes

Mother, you had me but I never had you,
I wanted you but you didn't want me,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.
Farther, you left me but I never left you,
I needed you but you didn't need me,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.
Children, don't do what I have done,
I couldn't walk and I tried to run,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.

    very nice

This reads well and follows what I believe was being said in Lennon's song! Good luck in the contest. The Shaker

I will comment on the poem itself later, but I would like to take the time now to ask you to put the actual song that this was inspried by in the author's box instead of in the body of your poem.

    thanks.
