There was care
before seeds began to grow,
for the flower had been seen
visioned in prayers and dreams;
flowed upon ancient streams of dearest wishes.
There was hope
before the first green turn in spring sun,
that ever would rain and light
make the magic it might
bring life into eternal rise.
There was love within the flower
fulfilled so many promises given to us,
as libations poured from a cup of blessings
dry ground into fertile night.
Now turned to seed of its own,
there is light on an horizon
that seems far and yet so near
like the miracle of life itself
touched and yet somehow never held.
I rejoice and dance like David
sing in the voice God gave to men
in the quiet place within, where truth is a pillow
and my head rests easy,
my days find their mirror,
and love sings harmony with its echo.

So gorgeous, PK. And done for a worthy gal.
Such cause and effect that we don't often acknowledge, but portrayed so beautifully here. Love the idea of the seed of fertile night. That rocks! Love the Biblical allusion, serves this poem perfectly within its broad sense of plan and fruition. I was reminded of when David was mocked by Michael and he vowed to dance all the more making an even greater fool of himself. David had a greater understanding of things...he knew truth. You have written of it here, and with a similar understanding. Beautiful reflection.

David is a favorite for many reasons, but i think most because my Grandmother told me about him when I was a child...Thanks so much...PK
