My Fate Tonight

The night I met my fate,
She was a vampire of night.
I was a human mate.
Her style lingered in fright.
But, she protected my soul.
I gazed into her eyes.
I could guess the toll.
My heart was in disguise.
She smelled my human tissue.
Envying my daylight strolls.
Guarding the unholy issue,
Watching my blood as it rolls.
She was not to take my life.
She wanted no more death.
From her fangs, sharp as a knife,
Then my time was departing.
A victim of a horrid crime,
Was it to become disheartening?
To end in my listless prime,
She had no choice but to bite.
I was not to follow the light.
Vampire love is not contrite.
My human life ends tonight.
