Taking The Hits

Dark letters fall from his bleeding lips.
A mother, a baby, they all take the hits.
Beneath the black sky, he takes his stance
and controls the room with his violence.

Threats stir within his churning mind.
Mother is scared and Baby hides behind.
He towers above them shaking a gun
one wrong move and they'll both be done.

Screams disrupt the neighborhood
everyone knows he is up to no good.
Soon the sirens come racing down the block.
He tells the police they were "just having a talk."

Mother and Baby pack up and leave
they are going to stay a night at Aunties.
But they need the money, they need the shelter
so back to his prison they have to return.

Mother gets old, Mother gets sick
Baby grows up, though she was never a kid.
Daddy keeps hurting with his words and his hands.
The violence will never end.

This was dark and very powerful. It shows the darkness in society. There was powerful imagery and emotion in this piece. The ending was especially powerful. It shows how abusers never stop hurting people. They will always try to find a way to hurt others unless people stand up for what is right and help out victims of violence to live better lives.
