Living With Abuse

Missing image

You walk in the house all drunk and dismayed

The first question you ask whatcha' been doin' all day

The kids are in school and you are all alone

Why wasn't you here to answer the telephone

You lazy woman your hair is a mess

Have you been cheating why don't you confess

No time to answer a quick fist to the jaw

He bloodied my nose and it felt so raw

What happened to our marriage why is he so mean

He beats me up regularly all I can do is scream

There is no one to help me if I take the kids and go

I want to sneak away in secret so he won't know

I fear for my life while I stay with this man

I need to get away from him as quick as I can

    Oh my
The sadness in this is sharp and painful to read as I know how true this is for many women in the world; Great poem and rhyme

    Awesome

I wouldn't know anything about abuse, but over all I thought that this poem was the best. I loved it. I used to know someone who was abused, I would change one thing though, I would make her a bit more scared than she is in this poem. I'm glad that she LIVES and not dies of abuse. I hope you when the contest.

Well written. This is an all too common scene I'm afraid.
