Heather Your Smile

The angels called your name today,
I know this much is true,
Your warmth and beauty an array,
In skies of powder blue.
Heather your smile will always be,
Etched in our hearts; a guarantee,
      Heather your smile...
      Heather your smile...
To every lock it is the key.

The angels called your name today,
They saw your lovely smile,
And now they ask of us to pray,
To walk that extra mile.
It's with the Lord you're seated now,
And thus before Him I do bow,
      It's with the Lord...
      It's with the Lord...
That I do make this solemn vow.

The angels called your name today,
I'll never know just why,
Holding for you a bright bouquet,
Gave you your wings to fly.
Up in heaven you now reside,
And with the strength that you provide,
      Up in heaven...
      Up in heaven...
Fore'er you'll be our loving guide.

Author notes

This poem is done in loving memory of Heather Ann Smith.
A loving neighbor that I didn't get to know long enough.

Trijan Refrain

The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas, for a total of 27 lines. Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is not to repeat the same line at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each stanza can be different. The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-refrain for lines 7 and 8. The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as follows:
Rhyme scheme: a/b/a/b/c/c/d,d refrain of first 4 syllables of line five /c
Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4,4 refrain/8

Sad but beautiful poem, again great rhymes and flow. I found this new form interesting, and may try to write some poetry in it. This form is very lyrical, and it would not be hard to put music to it. I liked how the refrains also make a sentence. "Heather your smile... It's with the Lord, up in heaven." Hugs to you and Jeff! As always....

Your showing your heart here....it's sad if someone you really wanted to know better passes away...
But I am sure she will be in a much better place waiting until all the people who knew her are and loved her are there with her...and she knows this will take many many years
    Than life can begin......

    I loved this beautiful tribute,
    XXJeannette

Jeannette, Thank you for the applause and your lovely words of praise as always. When I spoke to my neighbor and he told me about Heather it tore a hole in my heart. Twenty-five is much too young. I will return the favor soon. I'm very happy you enjoyed my tribute for Heather. Her parents loved it. Love and God bless you my dear friend, Joyce

    SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Sadly in our lives we meet people who suddenly die and we keep thinking that we should have met them much sooner to be able to spend more time with them.
