I shall letter you in the top drawing
and scan again, and make some variations
when I finish all the work surrounding me.
      Keyboard and ghosts and pumkins
(soon to go out the door), along with
      paint brushes and underglaze,
      sharing my workspace!

I shall find a wall that is sure to survive
on which to inscribe your name!

    the emptiness of maa

I do not know the author of my verse,
can find no real creator of my thought -
with muse or angels I do not converse -
some thoughts appear and then return to naught ...

The verse that flows through me, I do not own,
its author is not maa, but grace alone ...

      Ah, sweet maa, the vessel

      bringing recognizable love
in the gift of grace as explanation!

    Dear M-C Aesthete, (aka Cleopatra)

With Yem, Sir Ima, dear Mariza,
and Cleo too, if it should please her,
the king would surely honoured be
    to join such august company.

And yet he fears to fly too high….
    Those who self-elevation try
perchance do not rise far at all
but finish with a fatuous fall.

He oft’ comes last who would be first
and rues that recklessly he durst
to claim a place beyond his station
    through unsuccessful elevation.

And so, this king just hangs around
and keeps both feet upon the ground.

With love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)
