Of all my days
it is those shaded in greys
that give me the gift of hope.
The sprinkle of tears
of past and present years
are the strengths that help me cope.
Soon shall come
the light of the Son
to free me from my bondage rope.
Until then I shall cling
to the joy sadness brings

Ahh an interesting oxymoron!! From sadness we can perhaps find joy!
Great poem!

Jackie, a bit of an ozymoron indeed. But if one is never ill, they can never fully appreciate wellness. All emotions must have a negative experience to be able to embrace the positive ones. Think about how good it feels when there is an absence of pain after a lenghthy time of suffering. Or maybe, how a new love cures a broken heart?

Interesting sentiment. I like the rhyme scheme and the imagery. Nicely penned.

dame, it's a shame that for many of us have to endure peiods of depression before being able to experience all the current joys that are in our lives. Inspite of knowing that all too well, I often find more reaons to complain than to be content.

Pisces, for every day of sadness, it is the release of tears that keeps us focused on the "Covenant of the Rainbow"

The Poet says parade a parasol
and please put away your umbrella
for 'tis the getting wet within the rain
that could make the mettle of a fella'
I see that you are beautifying sadness
and encouraging it too not let it sap
but strengthen the spirit,
your rope of bondage is intrinsically woven with hope

Yvette, this one is for you!! All clouds may not have the proverbial silver lining, but friends come along at the perfect time to share a little sunshine

Oh Joe, though I added an element of rain and you shone sunshine together we have a rainbow! Thankyou, I shall wear the egg on my face with pride for I didn't know you wrote it form me, thankyou, I could climb a rope made of hope and true, silver linings are hard to see through stormy weather and the overcast of grey but I shall endeavour to weather it out.
Thankyou again
all the very best
