What are love poems when compared with
Truth
There's nothing more poetic
Than a breath
Than a smile
And you and me and the whole world
Become caught up
Fumbling
Rolling off of couches and laughing at wisps of hair
And the funny noises you make
We stop laughing
Maybe there are footsteps above
We straighten our clothes and grow back up again
Or grow back down, to innocence your parents have a Catholic faith in
But I know
I know
We just wrote a love poem no child could have thought up
Wrote with hands and lips and tongues
Wrote it with our two souls
Truth is
Love poems don't exist under the pen of Englishmen
They exist in the air that we breathe and that
Touches all that has been
Touched
Love poems
(true love poems)
Exist only in two hearts beating for each other
