I don't know if I can play this game,
This one where I pretend to be normal.
They say as you age it'll all go away,
But they lie.
It stays.
You think it's gone,
But it wins.
You fight day
By hour
By minute.
Whatever it takes.
But it wins.
Displaying your brave face to the world,
Everyone drinks it up.
They eat from your hand,
And you even believe yourself.
They don't know, do they?
The fight you play
Blow
By
Blow.
Everyday.
Normal,
Yes, you are.
But the voices take over.
You know they are right.
They tell you everything.
And they'll get through,
Whatever it takes.
And as I walk the streets,
Avoiding the stares that are not there,
It wins.
Doubt in myself,
My friends,
My head.
Whatever it takes,
There will always be something to fight against,
They win.

thanks. This is a great poem. I like it. it really explains the emotions of how you try to hide it and pretend for everybody then find yourself believeing it a little bit.

I liked the play on words about 'eat from your hand' and 'drinking it up' very clever. Speaks to me really well, though worries me when you said it never goes... though I kind of realised that anyway. Really good overall write, sums an ED up and the struggle within.
