you could pick me up and it wouldn’t even hurt;
but it did hurt, when you decided to see
if I would float on the wind
like a feather normally would.
you never thought things through that way.
I saw a glint of hesitation in your eyes
one too many times.
I saw everything I never wanted to see
in your face and your frame.
your eyes always gave you away.
and yet, I still linger by.
I still yearn for the touch of your fingertips
on my bare arms,
I still wait, for just about seven seconds
for you to turn around
even though you already passed by
without a smile or a glance
in my direction.
you give me no reason to stay;
but maybe that’s part of the reason.
always wanting what I cannot have
tends to be the motto of my life.
baby, just remember
if you ever need a helping hand,
or a loving heart
you can take mine, any day.
I’ll be right here waiting.

Captivating at best :) I love how you wrote the first few lines about how it shouldn't have hurt, but you led onto with the next few lines that, ope, it surely did! Wonderfully penned & phrased. I love the metaphor & the bit of personification there relating to the feather. Amazinggg.
