Homeless people
don't carry a buck
They settle for two hour old
Maxwell house from a greasy spoon .50
while rich men in suits
drink Starbucks coffee.
The sun hangs
not from hang man gallows
dangling over Venice apartment roof tops.
Rich girls work on California tans
on balconies
watching the ocean
as origami seagulls fish.
Heading to the city limits
going to the desert.
Sequoia the red wood of cactus.
As I drive I watch
a water color sunset
Arizona is beautiful at dusk.
Author notes
Homeless people, starbucks, coffee, the sun, roof top, balconies, ocean, seagulls, sequoias, origami, desert
water color.

I love the title...it sounds nice. I don't know what to think about the poem. For the most part stark comparisons were being made and then the last line seemingly sounds sarcastic as a result. I may have it wrong though. I enjoyed it and I want to wish you the best of luck in the contest
