Are Goodbyes Forever?

With hollow heart I stand alone
Your name has now been cast in stone
The time has come that we should part
I stand alone with hollow heart

With tear filled eyes I trusted you
I told you things I tell so few
You changed the tales with sordid lies
I trusted you with tear filled eyes

With tales you told at my expense
You left me cold with no defense
I never thought you’d be so bold
At my expense with tales you told

A circle starts where it begins
And circles back revealing sins
And stories that are breaking hearts
It begins where a circle starts

I wrote this verse to say goodbye
I’m sure you know the reason why
I thought your lies were so perverse
To say goodbye I wrote this verse

Now things have changed, you said to me
In your sincere apology
The stories had been rearranged
You said to me, now things have changed

The reason why I still don’t know
How sordid stories seem to grow
So I retract this last goodbye
I still don’t know the reason why

One day I shall start upsetting you on purpose just to produce more great poetry. This is delectable of your very best if we allowed one poet to win two prizes you would have been competing with yourself and EarthToJim for the gold. Thank-you from both of us and especially me for this poem. You have graced many of our rounds and are now officially our overall winner, in both series and since this is the final series we are running you must be the best rhyme and flow poet on site. (well after the judges of course!!!)

Thanks again for your support in both series, and do keep entering there will be new contests coming up!

I quite sadly can relate to far too much of this. I'll never understand why or how some people can be the way they are and hurt others for their own benefit. I thought a person a friend...

Besides the perfection of the rhythm/rhyme and flow of this piece, it is emotional and touching for me. It's beautiful in all those ways.

This is stunning sis! Such a sad melancholy feel that flows throughout.

I really love this form too!!

Not sure I would have been able to retract or forgive, I've been in that position before...

Powerful write, Amera. I liked the second stanza the best. Sometimes we do open up to people and tell them things that we don't tell many people and it can hurt if things don't work out. Thanks for sharing your poetic talent and keep that pen flowing.

This was magnificent. You really wrote something any one destroyed by another persons lies would identify with. This sort of pain has been experienced by so many who have been used and taken advantage of. It was perfect and the flow and rhythm and rhyme were fantastic.

A circle starts where it begins
    And circles back revealing sins
    And realize you’re breaking hearts
It begins where a circle starts

    That really struck home.

A scathing expose on gossip, I presume. I love how you started by putting their name on a tombstone and ended by forgiving. This is a good lesson for anyone. It shows the depth of your heart. Bravo!
