Pine in embittered torment,
stricken by adoration’s tender whip,
a crime called heartache;
pumping not blood, but tears,
from pain-strangled eyes,
this heart does not ache,
say rather, in callousness,
viciously it was torn free,
robbed, ripped and raped,
a lie called ‘love’ obliterated.
A shining soul darkened,
spirit of joy stolen in the night,
replaced by a morose banshee,
silently screaming sorrowful woe;
heartrending visage of loss,
happiness taken unsuspected,
by silver coated tongue,
flashing eyes and sincere smiles,
melting walls of steely protection,
all just a feint to take what you give.
You gave it your all wholeheartedly,
as it walked away laughing,
licking its lips at its cunning,
heading towards another target;
as your back turned unknowing,
clutching passion to your breast,
as contentment sighed into your pillow,
it breathlessly sighed another lie,
to the receptive ear of another,
a game played with emotions as pawns.
Let hope lighten your thought,
my shoulder shall remain strong,
a pillow for you to rest your head,
tender fingers to caress away your tears;
your light shall blaze and shine again,
no matter how deep the dark,
I can always see its spark;
in this storm there is a rainbow hidden,
when your eyes clear you will see,
at rainbow’s end stands a pot of love’s gold.

Option 2: Quote Prompt Quote No.1:- The soul would have no rainbow, had the eyes no tears. ~ John Vance Cheney
I'm not sure about this one, nor am I sure how well it ties with the prompt, but it was worth a shot.
Tried to not only be inspired by the quote for this one, but also tried to incorporate some of the words from the quote into the piece.
