Last day (haibun)

Climbing over the roof, six boys break in. Ladies underwear and toilet rolls are festooned around the assembly hall. Lawns whitewashed with slogans, door handles greased. The toilet pan and effigy complete with cap and gown, are tied to the clocktower for all to see.

Police sirens surround the quadrangle, all six caught and arrested. Questions, at the station, are asked long into the night. Finally they are released, without charge.
