This trial has begun but who is the guilty?
The betrayal was complete when you opened my veins
My crimes have been many I confess to the jury
I've been sentenced to life for crimes committed in my name
And if there was no verdict it would still turn out the same
Now my time is my own and I thank god for small mercies
For life can be tragic with no mercy at all
And the truth can be purely circumstantial
The judge and the jury can't agree to the call
I'm doomed to a life sentence as that old gavel falls
So I stand accused of the crimes I've committed
I must not be trite with the excuses that I give
For the many poor hearts I have won and have broken
Does this give me reason for why I must live?
If I ask for compassion is it yours to give?
So I humbly beseech you to go easy in your summations
I will plead guilty to the crimes I stand accused
I will not bear any grudges if I am found wanting
I am already in prison that I built and abused
And I stand by your verdict of which I'm accused

Oh wow ! That was a beautiful write of an Accused heart's cry. Because of the nature of my job, I can really relate to this . It is indeed beautiful and a perfect depiction of this individual's feelings.Good luck in the contest and look forward to reading more of your work.
