White lines cross
the skin
mementoes of bad times,
the light skin
moves with the flex of flesh
and no longer hurts
or bleeds
Bruises lighten
then disspear
altogether
leaving nothing behind.
I like scars
because they can remind you
that your life
isn't perfect,
but it'll get better.
the skin
mementoes of bad times,
the light skin
moves with the flex of flesh
and no longer hurts
or bleeds
Bruises lighten
then disspear
altogether
leaving nothing behind.
I like scars
because they can remind you
that your life
isn't perfect,
but it'll get better.
Author notes
This isn't about what you think it's about. I was just looking at my shoulder when I was bored in long block study hall and saw a scar that my cat had given me accidentally. And so Pain is not Forever was born.

wow I loved that and I agree. I like scars because they bring memories of good or bad things. I like the last and first stanza

-
Lol. This is great! I loved the last stanza a lot. Great job!

It means something else, now, doesn't it? I need to find something better to do in study. Like seriously.

They do tell their own story, don't they. Thank you very much for the kind review.

This is the second poem I've read of yours tonight, and I have to say that I really, really like your unique perspective on things. I've got some scars, and I definitely never viewed them this way. Beautiful, optimistic perspective, and a great write. I'm glad I came across it. Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks so much! I kind of got a bit sick of the other, darker views of scars so that's part of the reason I wrote this.
