First date (haibun)

The smell of formaldehyde sweetens the laboratory. Today it is white rats; each desk has a slightly yellowed rodent corpse ready for dissection. Scalpels click against the wooden chopping boards. Pelts are pinned back to expose musculature, later the heart.

Jenny removes the rat’s head to prevent it staring, making me laugh out loud. As punishment, we get detained after class.

    ha!

I absolutely loved this poem, I'm a big fan of yours already! lol. Keep up the good work. I love how sensitively you made "jenny" come across, and the bunsen flame in her eyes caught me! x

LOL Oh, I like this Tishu. The mix of science and the chemistry of attraction, this is an excellent haibun.

Thanks very much Susie. I enjoy this form and am trying to write a lot more. Obviously reflective, as school is a distant - but still vivid - memory.

      Regards
