The time came and went, first with a blessed reunion and then another saddened farewell.
Finally out of harms way, after months being in it's grasps, eight to be precise, I counted them.
Reaching out my arms to grab and pull her in real tight, so hard to let go and much to make up for.
An emotion I hadn't felt since the very first time she was placed in my arms as my baby sister.
It was a sensation of excitement, then extreme happiness, and of course of being overwhelmed.
All of that sentiment occurred in a matter of minutes and but the beginning of what's to come.
Couldn't help myself in the days to follow, urges to ring her and speak to her as much as I could.
My children excited to receive a call from the aunt they adore, have missed, and long to see.
We continue to keep contact daily, visits often as we can, with a party for my nephew and her!
Then the night came, it was sisters night only! No husbands or boyfriends allowed, just us six.
We drank a slight amount and had ourselves a blast, then parted our ways for that evening.
Now there is but six short days left to spend as many precious moments possible till she leaves.
Don't and can't think of her departing us again, be shipped back to the other side of the world.
Hear the ticking of the clocks, the days are just disappearing all to rapidly for my acceptance.
For here is the moment I have been dreading from the instant I heard she was back home from that place.
These tears that fall from my eyes and down my cheeks, are wept in heartache and sorrow for you.
And to say that I shall miss you everyday with all my heart is simply an understatement to say the least.
Farewell for now my sweet sister, may you be safe and sound until you reach us once again.

Author notes
This is a poem I've written about my sister that is a Marine (OOOOORAH!) and her recent trip home on leave from her tour in Iraq. It was so very hard for me to say goodbye to her and send her back there again. So I wrote, and I dealt.

Thank you for the comment Natasha. I do love all of my sisters with all my heart. I have 11 all together but only see 5 of them. And the one I wrote this poem about, and my hero poem, and Remembering about was my baby sister who's a Marine. I'm especially close to her. Thank you again for the complement.
