The price for seeing in color
Is to be blind in the dark
To be aware of the stars
And the firefly
That occupy the middle world
Of my perceptions
To watch the marching clouds
Children to generation
To the lines across my face
Yet unaware of the blistering pace
We hurtle blind through space
To wonder if it is futile
To feed curiosity
To work for the light
For oncoming night
Our pace must certain slow
Stumble home 'neath noctilucent glow
Is our growing understanding
Meant only for the grave
The light from dark machinations
Revelations save
The world is vast beyond
Our ability to perceive
The universe beyond
We feel its shadows, dim glows
Hear faintly distant song
Scent chilled rarefied air
Strive for meaningful connection
To what we hope is there
That requires faith in things not seen
To pass the failing test
Our Kobiashi Maru
The light I see
I take with me
And gladly share
With you

Your poetry makes me feel good.
Simple as that. Love, Lane

fireflys. I love fireflys. Much more than butterflies. Have many memories catching fireflies in mayo jars up in milam, as a little girl. Mamaw and papaw had a house right on toledo bend, so there were always plenty.
I absolutely love the softness and wisdom you've combined, it brings a maturity to a childhood memory, and that makes the meaning much more powerful than otherwise. You are really opening up some ideas here, as always. I'm so glad you're one of my gurus
.
Peace always,

There was a youngster in britain who wanted his behind to glow
In contest with his cheeky mate
Unnoticed petrol can below
His vapors trying to ingnite
He won the bet
But will regret
His private bit of scars...
