Within the splendour of creation
stands a sentinel secure,
this place where faith shines clear and bright
and with trust in God it shall endure.
All around the trees sway softly
bowing in homage to the creator,
as the echoes of everlasting salvation
with this message there's nothing greater.
But trials are sent in test of courage
that beliefs have strong foundations,
this time to search a saddened soul
to make lasting affirmations.
Down through the generations
the shell remains intact,
for strength of faith that's held within
has always stayed on track.

I saw the flag at half mast, so hence the third stanza.

You noticed the half mast too, so did I, what a fantastic poem, although I have said that about everything I have read so far. Best to you in the contest

The flow and rhythm in this lovely piece of work are both perfect. I love the whole piece, but the 3rd stanza shines like a jewel. I'm so very pleased I got to read this....as you know I'm not around as much these days. Well done sis. Excellent penning.

This is beautiful. A heartfelt piece of gracefully written poetry. Thank you for entering.
