Still Moon

as scenery changes
shades of skies
earth tones and light

you stay whole
alone and pale
consistent in contrast
to the land below you;

where I am a tree
rooted to the ground
in anger

ignorant to your eyes
that watch every minute
of life;

and i always know where
to find your glow
above the stars and under
the night

ambient as time shifts
around you

still
as the world spins
through tomorrow.

Author notes

tonight I sat outside with my fiance Zack, and we had a long talk about life and things in it, and he helped me find the roots of my anger and he told me that the one thing he knows he can count on to be there as the world changes is the moon. We both thought that was the reason why we both love the moon.

look at the sky now and again

    This is excellent! Your symbolism of the tree awes me. The moon is really beautiful, but I never really thought of it this way. Great poem!

    So beautiful! I'm a star gazer and there have been so many times I've thought about the moon and how we're so far away and tiny. Thank you for sharing this! I loved it!

    Personally, I wouldn't touch this. It is quite brilliant actually. I see so much more than the moon here, but spirits transcending realms. Its beautiful and right up my alley. A fine writer you are

    I really liked the poem and I would never had looked at the moon like that. I loved the part when you said, "ignorant to your eyes that watch every minute of life;" It reminds me that the moon is always there. Good job, excellent poem

    I really enjoyed this poem, especially the part "where I am a tree
    rooted to the ground
    in anger"
    It made me feel the feeling of entrapment.
    Great Job =D

    Wow...I can seriously relate to this. I, too, love the moon... my world falls apart sometimes, but I often look up at the moon and even when I feel like giving up, somehow she makes me smile.

    Great job =)

    This is an excellent write Kerri!
    Deep and meaningful. I love how you depict yourself as a tree, for in moments of anger..that's what we are...unwavering, unmoving from our steadfast, anger driven determination.
    Wonderful writing.
