People like it
when they smile.
So they might

then you laugh too,
and never show

what lurks within,
hear that awful
screaming din...

waste away.
You'll never see
the light of day...

And if you cry
they'll turn around,
burn your castle
to the ground.

So if you tell them
pretty things,
if you kiss their
diamond rings...

They'll let you breathe
and go outside.
Just make sure
the darkness hides...

Keep it secret,
make it go.
Lock it up
before the show.

Then go on stage
with your neon sign.
Hide the darkness
with a phony shine.

Laugh until your
bones grow thin.
Laugh until your
heart caves in.

Then let the darkness
have its turn.
Even when you're dead
your shine still burns.
