I am strong
I can go to bed
tossing and turning,
thoughts running about my head
And then I wake
refreshed and clear,
no memory of stress; no ache
That's because I'm strong
Or maybe I'm weak
Standing face to face
at a loss for words,
cornered; breath a quick pace
Close my eyes to forget
don't have to listen,
pretend I'm gone; there's no duet
That's because I'm weak
So which am I?
Am I the brave soldier?
Or the weak coward?
Author notes
Not one of my greatest...but the title just stuck out for me. I've debated many times whether I'm strong because I can push aside my problems...or if I'm weak because I don't face them.
Hmm...still unanswered on that one...

i vote for strong
the weak don't question their weakness, they accept it.
"Close my eyes to forget
don't have to listen,
pretend I'm gone; there's no duet"<--- this is what ridiculously simple perfection looks like when written.
excellent!

Great poem that shows your personal struggle and twilight of thought...
"Close my eyes to forget
don't have to listen,
pretend I'm gone; there's no duet"
There's no duet...what a great line...my favourite...and it can mean so many things...wow...
And also...you seem to realise that all of your problems are actually still there...which adds another twist to this whole thing...
Strong or Weak...?
