Lights low, a table for two,
sitting here deep in thought.
Missing long overdue lover,
tears the night has brought.
Mood becomes melancholy,
tears glisten in soft blue light.
Candle flickers, people dance,
oblivious to saddened plight.
What joy found when we met,
with passing hours disappears.
Background laughter muffles,
sobs mid onslaught of tears.
This was our place, ours alone,
where love was first embraced.
Heartache overshadows music,
from your heart I am erased.

good rhyme scheme and flow, some of the phrasing could be construed as cliche, but is still an effective interpretation of the mixed emotions evoked by cabaret.
