Bodybag

Underneath my bed:

A conscious,

wrapped into something faceless;

     A lily,

     littered with butchered butterflies

     and the cremains

     of artful arousal.

Awoken by orange arms

painting mornings at the horizon,

my eyes unfold

    and swallow the day

        into the blackness of my iris.

Underneath my bed ...

            a bodybag.

Author notes

Can anyone tell me what it means if someone dreams about finding bodybags underneath his bed with a faceless person in it?

I'm still not too active around here, I'm museless as well. Sorry for all my favourites I'm letting down for the moment

    A very interesting dream, and probably a bit scarey, too, for you.
    Sylvia Brown, a well known dream anylist physic (sic) in Seattle says that dreams of death are actually dreams of a new beginning, leaving behind a part of life and moving on to something else. It could have to do with moving to a new place, leving an old job and going to a better one... that kind of thing. She of course explains it much better than I

    A pretty cool poem, Leander

    Your poem made me curious on your dreams meaning so I checked out the net.
    There was nothing about bodybags but I believe this fits tho. It's the meaning of burial and the meaning of a bed when you see it in dreams.

    it's from dream2live.com -

    "It could instead symbolize an ending of a different kind. You may be burying relationships,conditions,or even emotions that you no longer need and which are no longer conducive to your personal grown. On the other hand, this dream may symbolise the burying of sensitivites and emotions that are too difficult to cope with.

    It may reflect numbness or a feeling that is the opposite of vivacity, such as depression and emptiness."

    "The bed is one of the most valueable pieces of furniture. It's where we sleep,rest,restore our minds and bodies and engage in sexual pleasures.

    The bed is symbolic of all these things. The bed could also symbolise the bridge between the conscious and the unconscious(i.e. our daily lives, and teh great unknown,our spirit, and our psychological undercurrent"

    The quality and the cleanliness of the bed in our dreams may say something about the way we feel about ourselves and our relationships.

    If something is under the bed it could be representing secrets that you and others are keeping."

    I really believe that those two meanings fit what you dreamed.

    Plus if you google you could even find more details.

    Hope this helps answer your questions about the dream you had.

    I have had very unusal dreams but never a bodybag underneath my bed with a faceless person. It does make me wonder what it means.
    One of the stranges is falling from a building...luckly I woke up before I hit the ground. I've had alot senual type dreams. I've even had one where actual a cop had stabbed me with a knife. And in my dream I never felt anything....just the slow motion of falling to the ground.

    Sorry...I could go on and on about the unusal ones I've had. Though I would like to know the meaning behind them.

    I enjoyed reading your write.

    Hi Leander, another beautiful poem from you. I am glad you have started writing again. Like others I do not know what a bodybag is. I was thinking about a sleeping bag, but maybe you mean a body laying under your bed like a bag or an empty bag in which you would expect a body, which is no longer there. In other words... het is een rommeltje... I can see that too in the picture you paint of the lily and the butchered butterflies. Normally something beautiful, but now the cremains of artful arrousal. You wake up in the morning by sunbeams. The day is swallowed into the blackness of your iris; you still feel sad - the bodybag under your bed! I understand that you are not yet your old self, but I am glad that you can see the orange arms again, which means that there is hope for better circumstances. All the best Leander.

    I like this piece Leander. It tells a tale, hauntingly dreamlike - as it was.

    "Probably, sometime in the past a secret must be known to you now. You might have seen it but have not seen its true face then".

    My perspective that is and I just hope that it isn't bad and is worth knowing.

    Thanks Sir for sharing a good poem. I'll see you around.

    No idea what the body bag means, but I'm pretty such the answer is in how you've been feeling emotionally.

    The poem, that is quite good. I'm sorry that you have had to experience them in order to write this poem, but I did enjoy reading it.

    Perhaps your dream is telling you to bury the past, Leander...maybe...it's a scary dream but you wrote it so very well. Great to see you writing again... just stick to it

    Creepy dream. And although I;m no expert on dreams. You might be watching too many CSI's or have seen a gory movie that made an impression that haunts you.You might be making the disconnect in the faceless victim via the actors investagating of a serial type accounting of the crime.But this is only guessing. Don't let a nightmare get to you. Only if repeated occures.Even then,you as the dreamer can figure out what happened during your day tieing the threads into a non-sensical bad dream.But hey,it's a good scary themed piece.

    First off, I absolutely LOVE parallelism, and yours was brilliant.

    'conscious'

    I like that you used this as a noun. Most people aren't aware that it can be, and might comment on its oddity, preferring 'consciousness' or some other such word. I thought it was nifty.

    'a lily'

    I enjoyed the simplicity of this, and the lead into the stanza.

    'Awoken by orange arms
    painting mornings at the horizon,'

    BEAUTIFUL! And so is the rest of that stanza. Def my favorite of this piece.

    Your end is punchy, though the title takes some of the surprise away. Still, this is an excellent piece.

    ~~~~~~
    As to your question, I can only answer is some regards. The death of a stranger in dreams is fairly common. It is often transitional and usually metaphorical, though much of what it means depends on your reaction. Firstly, how did you feel about this death? That is VERY important. I grabbed a paragraph from a site to aid with this:
    'The death of a stranger can be the development or transition of different aspects of the self. Consequently, it is often useful to decide how you knew the stranger and whether you seemed deeply moved or only casually concerned with the death. It may be that the randomness of life in the central concern. In this case, looking at who else in the dream is concerned with the stranger's death and your connection to the fellow mourners is important. The death of a stranger may symbolize stereotypes that need to be rethought or explored as a means to a greater self-understanding. Are you being confronted with situations where your attitudes about others are being challenged?' http://predictions.astrology.com/dd/death.html
    As the the faceless quality, that could merely be an amplification of the foreign nature of the stranger or, more likely, it has to do with a deeper problem. Perhaps the inability to identify something within yourself. A problem that you know exists but cannot fully understand. Death itself is often just a symbol for change and as such, this dream probably reflects that.
    As to the body bag, I have no idea. Best of luck figuring out your dream!
      Thank you very much for your input and for the explanation you've given...
      As to what it might mean - there's been a huge change in my life recently (relationship wise) so probably that could be it...
      I always had these kind of dreams to be honest... every few months I wake up remembering I found a bodybag under my bed in my dreams...
    For me death always brought the idea of birth.
    I don't know how to interpret dreams, but who knows you are getting used (and ready) to let the past go and embrace a new future...
    Ah, I missed (still) your words and jokes and smiles.
    Lots of warm hugs and love,
    Time will tell
    This may only be part of dream you have to absorbe bits and pieces till everything is brought to view. Know that it has happened befor and baybe you awoke befor all could be revealed....mac sorry Think of it as seeing half a movie, reading maybe the middle of a book. Fear will never help you, know that there is mmore, much more to come. Maybe part of something that happened a long time ago and just bits and pieces ore being revealed.
