i sit and smile
as sun bathes my skin
thinking back
to a life once lived
a life a pain
a life of torment
now replaced
with a life
of joy
a life of happiness
the things i did
feel almost wiped clean
the friends i lost
ive gained back
the mother who once
was afraid to leave me
alone in a roome
now lets me
babysit my beautiful
baby nephew
and so
i sit and smile
as sun bathes my skin
thinking back
to a life once lived
and then i wonder
how on earth
i let myself
get in that deep
to a nightmare that seemed
as though it would never end
but now it has
and i am free
of the pain
i had caused myself
