As The Sun Sets Over Eigg

As The Sun Sets Over Eigg
 Painting By  Tom Barron
Ghosts of viking ships of old,
serenely float in fires of eve,
hues of blue and yellow merge,
to bid farewell in gentle breeze.

Shadows stretch and gaze in awe,
oceans nestle in sea green bay,
birds and trees prepare for sleep,
as nightime waits the end of day.

Aye lad....Glad I came by to see your poem! Mentioning the Vikings has me intrigued as we had them here in Canada on our east shores...Like Mom before me and Tom, I would like you to have continued with the poem as you have whetted our appetite...Maybe one day you will write on...please let us know...Proud brother of this write! Bravo!

Graham this piece warms the cockles of my heart, being of Scottish descent myself my best poems are written about the Islands and Highlands of Scotland, and this poem reminds me of my own work. If I was to revise this poem I would make it longer, it is too beautiful to have to stop reading after only two stanzas. Please let me know if you ever add more to it I would certainly come back to read it again. Well done son!!!

This sounds like an ancient bed time story to tell the wee lads before bed.
    Serene and beautiful.
    As is the photo.
    Very mellow
    Life is but a dream....

    Peace,
    LOWELL.

You picked a beautiful prompt for this enchanting piece. I really enjoyed your imagination and addition of the ghost viking ships. That was a great touch! Beautiful imagery. Good luck in the contest. I'm in it as well ;-)
