The pathless path of peace we cannot find,
when clouds of thought veil freedom of the sky,
in jungle of an ever restless mind.

When futile quest of form and name shall cease,
the concept of "enlightenment" will die.
Each moment is now welcome as it is ...

    With respects.

'When futile quest of form and name shall cease,
the concept of "enlightenment" will die.'

Something like Swami Vivekananda said about the limits of religion.

Infinite to infinite and we still have Infinity.
For me God Is infinite not to be caged in this finite world.

It seems bizarre that the hardest thing for the mind to do is nothing at all, that internal and eternal peace comes from just being, not thinking. Easier said than done though when the instinct of the mind is to dance with thoughts. Hmm...maybe true enlightenment only comes with age though. Maybe it is okay to spend a lot of years thinking so that when you are older, most of your thinking is done and you can just be. That almost implies that age brings all the answers when I know it doesn't. Daddy says you never stop learning so maybe it is just important to spend sometime in you day welcoming each moment as it is...
I love how your poems make me think.

      dear ellie,
if true enlightenment came with age, all the hospices would be filled with buddhas ... sadly, this is not so ... I love your words about eternal peace coming from just being, not thinking ... are you sure you are only 12 years old ??? well, if that isn't a proof that wisdom does not always equal grey hair ...

      much love, my sweet one,

    is distracted and restless!

A beautiful glimpse into the mind of maa.

    Superb!

As always your words are enlightening! It is so true, that probably when we are really enlightened, we don't even think about it as we are free from a "jungle of the ever-restless mind" and "Each moment is now welcome as it is ..." and we are liberated from Maya.
Congratulations on the gold trophy. Your write is so deserving of it! Love you! your friend - karen

I wonder if "peace" as some greater term is even possible? I guess the next question could be, "Is it then worth striving for?" Ignore that, just thinking with my fingers.

We need a rake to clear the path of that fallen debris that always stands in the way of understanding...or enjoy the pathless path...wherever that may be hidden.

      hi yemmie,
my hubbie would answer : "peace is, when I am not" ...
there is no peace for the ego-mind with which we tend to identify ... when we realize that we are the Self, we realize that the peace is already present ... it's a matter of focus, I would say ...
focus on the foreground (manifestation, sense-perceptions, thoughts etc) ... restlessness
focus on the background (pure consciousness) ... peace

I like the way this is divided into two stanzas, you complete the first thought and go on to a new one. The "pathless path of peace" is a good goal, but not found by searching. The "futile quest" is apt, as is the concluding line. This is peace, here and without fuss. Best of luck, sweetie!

yay, I like the expression "pathless path", it may seem confusing for the thinking mind, but like a zen koan, once the mind gives up, the meaning is revealed ...

      thank you, sweetie

thank you so much for the gold and the "jackpot" that comes with it ... a most unexpected gift after just having won gold in your last contest ...
I realize that I only really enjoy writing about such profound topics as the prompts in your contests, everything else seems a distraction and a waste of time and energy ...
how long can the little child stay outside and play ? at one point, her mother will call her back home ...

all the best, my dear friend,
