Enlightenment

Before there was light, it was dark; that was night.
Before there was dark, it was light; that was day.
Before we knew the difference, we understood neither.
Before we knew opposition, we feared nothing.
Now there is light in conflict with dark,
and we are enlightened by the perspectives each present to reality.

Author notes

Without conflict how can anyone confirm or deny enlightenment? It would seem easiest to assume and rely, and then condemn. Just like they did to Columbus, Plato, Aristotle, Jesus, the list goes on...

    THIS IS TRUE
IT IS THE AWARENESS OF OPPOSITES THAT CREATE CONFLICT.
GOD SAID NOW YOU KNOW GOOD AND EVIL AND OUR JOURNEY BEGAN.
WE WOULD SIMPLY BE, IF WE WERE NOT AWARE OF FEAR.
    VERY INSIGHTFUL
    GOD BLESS MY FRIEND....

conflict of outer world is different, than conflict of inner. Conflict od inner dissipates energy..thanks for sharing your perspective

      I think I disagree...

I think that inner conflict is the beginning of enlightenment, resolving (or attempting to resolve) the inner conflict is to attain to a higher degree of consciousness and conscience. Some of the most arrogant full grown children I have ever met have no inner conflict at all. Then there are those I know who struggle so intensely with their own inner conflicts that they are a tremendous source of wisdom and encouragement to everyone they know. I will wholeheartedly agree that the inner conflict dissipates energy (probably better stated, it consumes energy) but I think that it's more like exercise than depletion. Just thoughts. Thanks for the note.
