Watching witty banter through a tv screen
Watching romance that has more perfection then dreams
As the actresses cry tears faker then their faces
Their smiles look forced
And their laughs hollow.
They portray a life of tragedy and joy.
But life is much more complicated then any intricate storyline
Friendships bring more happiness
Confidence is lacked
Self doubt is higher then anything written in a shallow script.
The person holding the smoking gun isn’t always a antagonist
Family isn’t the reliable bonds that seem so solid.
Justice isn’t always served
Words don’t always ring as true as you wish them to
Good guys make bad choices leading to hurt.
Destruction is hardly physical,
but emotional.
The characters don’t all have distinct qualities that give them success in the future.
The barbed wire comments of vicious souls doesn’t just get shrugged off.
The boys that are crushed on don’t feel the same at the end of the season
The adored don’t go on msn when they are thought about
Protagonists actually gain weight when they eat.
People change for the worst, not the better.
Background music doesn’t just sound in moments that seem sad
Kissing with the faint imitation of what should be love.
Boredom drags on longer then a few montage scenes
depression is more severe then simple fake tears streaming down freshly applied make-up faces.
Plastic faces come before plastic hearts
Bottles of liquor don’t just immediately drown sorrows
Flimsy metal razors don’t just cause death instantly.
Hurt comes in many ways,
The destroying of dreams leaves you lost more much longer then the course of a 40 minute episode.
But there is a strange comfort in watching the lives we can never have.
Along with the envy of beauty,
Comes a sliver of hope.
Hope that maybe that life is attainable,
Maybe it could be yours.
Author notes
i'm really quite interested as to why we compare movies to life.
why are these fake scenes in movies desired so much?
i come up with a different answer each time.
i just see so much facination to the fabricated perfection. i absolutely love to compare flawlessness to reality. i'd write this poem over and over again if i could rephrase it to something a little more interesting.
HONESTY is the BEST policy, but it also HURTS the most... so come on... {HURT me}

this was very intriguing and i like how you pointed out all the flaws in this "perfection" that most of us try to compare our lifes to. yet the whole point of movies is to be appeasing and beautiful and perfect for the human race, but its not real and i really like how you pointed that out.
fantastic again!!!!
