Beyond the stargate...

Emotionless walls bind them, trapped beneath their virtue
Held together by ideologies, Now forgotten
Nothing now remains, of life lived long ago
Nothing of coverings but the barest shred of cotton

So many years ago, they walked a hidden land
Moving through a past which now is old
Each step they took its covered, each thought they had is gone
Every remnant of their life a relic to behold

The ancients obeyed nature, thoughts of religious idols
Their emotions strong fixed, on what they thought would last
Their commitment didn’t show, the gods did never come
As their people became nothing but the past

The title appeals to my sense of ramblings You have laid it out well....it held me attention through to ending.I do like the last line ... we will all be the past one day makes me ask what we will leave behind.
