Curtain Call

Written February 2008

Everyone cheer on that phantom
before he bleeds away,
leaving a dim old lantern
to flicker in his dismay.
Nobody ever sees our hero.
Whose stars differ from mine.
Mine leak grey to the ground below-
and his bright whites float high...

Act I is done; we've just begun..

This streetlamp, rusty and old,
casts a golden pool here.
Meet me at hours untold.
We'll choke back these tears.
And the audience roars,
they clap and smile
while he dies on the floor.
The applause lasts a while...

Act II draws closed and no one knows..

Reach up higher than me.
I dare you to see
someone like me be stronger now.
The angels fly high above this
follow their sweet bliss.
You don't want to miss the curtain call.

This is where we show ourselves.
This is where we show ourselves.

The curtain falls and so do we...
