Then I sat in social studies
Watching the teacher bawl
Now I sit in history
Trying to keep tears out of my eyes
Then we didn't know what happened
We couldn't figure out why
Now we know too much and still not enough
And still don't understand why
Then we were just kids
Scared and confused at school
Now we're just teenagers
About to make a mark on the world
Then we were hoping to get out of school
We didn't know how serious it was
Now we hope the war will stop
We don't know how many lives will be lost
Then we watched it on the television
Trying to figure out why people were jumping
Now we see the pictures
And imagine what the people at the top were thinking
Then we were just fourth graders
Only hoping for the summer
Now we're just eleventh graders
Praying for those who became immortal heroes
Author notes
This is a mix between options three and four. When I said 'immortal heroes', I didn't mean that they can't die, but rather that they won't die because we will always remember them.

I believe that during that day all of us said a special prayer at some point. The ending was very powerful and strong.
Thanks for your entry

A wonderful write, and the comparison actually works well here. It shows how much you've grown in these years since those who fell in a horrendous attack. Thank you for your entry. Wonderfully written.
