into the wind

i lean into autumn, resolute
to gather the grain
planted in a spring
long exhaled

to bake the loaves
and break the bread

drink from the cup

time does not stand still
because the hourglass lays prone

Autumn is my favorite season, the time I feel most at ease. I am wild in the summer and slutty in the spring and winter is just too damned cold. I like the reflection here. Perfect for the harvest.

thanks, i love autumn, too, but winter is my season. I have a thing for trees without their leaves, every twist and turn of branch and twig is revealed. odd, i guess.

Not odd. I think Winter is the most beautiful month, but I am a vegetarian and get way too cold. Your fondness for winter actually makes sense. Wise with white wisdom like your poetry.

    drink from the cup....
I loved that - the placement is perfect and i am lost in my own world of metaphores in that space.

A good write and a good read--thought provoking.
    FLows very well.
If I may ask: your picture, you look so stern almost sad--why is that? Again if I may ask.

The time of harvest for all our labor is upon us. This poem makes me know. It is confirmation for me. This is our Season.

Thank you dear poet for these words of wisdom. This message forges me into this new day. The last line made me sit in awe. I can easily see the "prone hour glass". It makes me want to erase procrastination from my life.

    Exceptional!

I wish you well in this challenge.

    Much Love ♥

Yes, autumn as a time of repletion, fruitfulness, time to bake and break the bread. Love the cup. Fine imagery.

    "i lean into autumn, resolute"

Gorgeous use of language & imagery, my Friend...& your piece echos what I've always maintained; that autumn is a time for harvest...

so many people try to convince me it's a time of death & sadness.

    Au contraire.

Good luck in Mary's contest, Sweetie.
