A Day That Will Live In Infamy

They gave their lives for others
Helping those that fell
Their sacrifice so valiant
Mere words can never tell
The horrors of that awful day
Will live in infamy
It was a living Hell

Among the fire and twisted steel
They did what they knew best
To serve, protect and rescue
They truly passed the test
We honor them with pride
For what they did that day
On September 11 2001
Let us purpose in our hearts
To never ever forget

Author notes

It was a sad sad day - I remember watching it on tv - may the Lord have mercy on their souls.

Excellent. Very powerfully written and so very true. We must remember those who served whether it was the police... fire...ambulance... doesn't matter. They did their duty... and some paid for it with their lives.

Thanks for sharing this write with us and thanks for entering it into this contest.

I Can't Believe It Was Eight Years Ago. It Feels Like Yesterday, I Remember Coming Home From School And My Mum Was Crying On The Sofa. And As Soon As I Realised What Had Happened, I Cried. We Knew Noone That Was Harmed That Day, We Live Thousands Of Miles Away In England. It Was Just The Mere Thought Of What Had Happened Which Made Us So Sad. I Don't Know A Single Person Who Wasn't Affected In Some Way By The Cruel Acts That Took Place That Day.

You Wrote This Really Well, And Properly Portrayed The Devestation Of 9/11.
    Well Done.
    Love

hmm... i thought it would be about Pearl Harbour for some reason. pretty. sad I remember that day too... I really wasn't sure what everyone was so hysterical about and I was trying to find out what time it was in Hong Kong because I had to call them about an order of theirs. (I was at work)... all I knew is that the whole office was going crazy and I had no idea what they were talking about! Crazy.... The last thing on my mind was a terrorist attack.

I was at school... I find it is thought about, what all the people born on that day, or have gotten married... I was born september 11th 1988 and it was a happy day for my family. It is a sad day and there was too many people hurt, but still it needs to be remembered not repeated.

This event changed the United States forever. I was eight at the time, and living at the Panama Canal. I was born on the island of Oahu at Schofield Barracks (one of the military bases that was attacked. My family lost many friends.

An abundance of evidence has surfaced over the years suggesting parties were involved in the attack other than those officially accused. A truly open and independent investigation - which would have been the logical thing to do - has never taken place. Instead evidence was withheld, disinformation spread and blatant lies have been presented to the people. The traitors of the press were instructed to discredit and ridicule anyone who had the guts to question what really took place, labeling them as anti-patriotic and paranoid conspiracy theorist. And while the structures crashed the fire brigades risked their lives in an attempt to save victims trapped in the buildings. Only to be instructed afterward to shut up about what they witnessed (multiple explosions). By remaining secretive the US government does in no way deny its suspect involvement in the event in a credible way. While it would have been easy for a party that has no blame, by just plainly making public all records of the attack.

      Hi Chris

Perhaps we will never know the answers - not in this lifetime anyhow - the twin towers coming down the way they did seems almost impossible to comprehend - but building #7 came down they same way without being hit, the reason given for it coming down in a controlled fashion was that a boiler on the 5th floor exploded at the same time - quite a co-incedence I would think - thanks for the applause and comments Chris - Bless God - Joe

        Joe

Som many have no idea about the inner working of a high rise build. So let me help you out. #1 steam at about 170psi is being feed into the bottom of the house say thru 20 in pipes that branch off thru out the build. Then you have house tanks, fresh water,on variuos floors. Maybe every 30 floors. The water is pumped up from the basement. Each floor of water creats 5# of head preasure in the pipe. Then you also have condenser & Chilled water lines under alot of pressure being pumped up thru out the build.. Then you have 477 volts of electricity & breakers all over, Step up & step down transformers on every floor, Sprinkler and standpipe lines. 500 horse power motors . Huge Hvac fans. Hot water heaters. All this under intense pressure. I have seen them let go. The explosion took out an entire 12 x 12 cinder block wall one time. Another time a 477 breaker exploded it killed a guy 6 feet away. Those were the explosions heard in the build. that day. No one planted bombs.
