Your Words

I erased your name from my vocabulary
I destroyed the words that were once yours
My dictionary now has holes
And I lack the ability to say what I want
All because of you

'Who?' I ask
When they mention your name
'What?' I murmur
When I hear a description that was once yours
And 'How?' I think
When your words creep upon me

For they are not always from my lips
Nor the lips of any other
But in a story, a poem
Or simply drifting through the winds
To catch me unaware

And my head comes up and I look around
And I strain my ears for another sound
Your face flashing in my mind
Your laugh tickling my ears

For although I erased you
And I threw away your words
And I hid from your very essence

Memories still cloud me
You still haunt my dreams
Like a ghost searching for an end
Eternally cursed
To be my memory
