waking up
from the blur
of existence
life passing by
within the murmur
between heartbeats
its time to take a stand
push the files off the desk
and steal a moment of silence
sometimes you must
escape from reality
just to breathe.
from the blur
of existence
life passing by
within the murmur
between heartbeats
its time to take a stand
push the files off the desk
and steal a moment of silence
sometimes you must
escape from reality
just to breathe.

Great title. In today's world, between cell phones, pagers, computers and employment interactions, it does seem as though unstructured moments for processing and reflection must be fought for or stolen. Excellent "life passing by within the murmur between heartbeats." Outstanding "sometimes you must escape from reality just to breathe." Reminds me of the idea: too busy making a living to have a life.
I would probably just turn my face to the wall, as pushing the files off would dictate my activity for the next hour or so...

Kewl write Errant...i looked at this contest and couldnt conjure anything worthy up. I like the bit, life passing by within the murmurs between heartbeats. Theres something about that that really strikes a cord in me. I think you've taken this prompt and done really well with it. Its so true about getting caught up with the paperwork or seemingly important distractions and getting lost and forgetting whats really important

I love this...It made a tear fall because it is the simple things that are so dear and the little doggie on the bg reminded me of my dog being the one who licks my tears when I am sad....just a silly thing that I thought of but as I said simple little things, like pushing files off the desk (which also reminded me of romance LMAO (see where my mind went) LMAO
Great poem ~! hehe

reality does take our breath at times...I liked pushing the files off the desk in this
we can measure life this way
with things we should toss to the curb

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you could see the metaphor in that phrase for clearing the clutter from ones life. Your feedback is greatly appreciated
