The rhythm of the lonely willow trees do sway
A majestic breeze sorrowfully whimpers
Clouds washing out the wisp of white into grey
Nature has sound of music, into my soul it whispers
The raging roar of the pure treasures of the sea
Powerful waves, the crashing warriors unite
Each grain of sand, carve the shape footprints for all to see
Sounds of music to my ears on a still summer night
Thunderous vibrations of the storms anticipation
With lightning dancing in the shadows
Raindrops in graceful melody swim into syncopation
In its beauty, eyes still only see in form shallow
Sing song of daily praise, sweet bird of blue
With crisp orange-red blood filling each leaf
With hills with lurking sun, shining so true
Of musical composure embracing, I stand in awe and disbelief
With peat moss growing among ancient stones in valleys low
And silky dirt fills the hands of a humbled worker of ground
Rows of splendid taste , color of the lilies, of purple and gold
The music is the Hand of God and His goodness does abound
Author notes
The reason for the title "Bittersweet Symphony" is that our eyes cannot see the beauty that is completely around us. We do not have the spiritual eyes of God...and to me, that is bittersweet.
Title taken from the song: "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve

Excellent! I hear the music of nature and there are times I prefer it to anything. Good job! Write on, poet.

yes
this is wonderful. It flows into the soul. Expressive and sincere like the thought it conveys. Nature and music. Such harmony. And the title fits perfectly. I think - better than "honorable winner" but thats just my opinion.

Thunderous Vibrations of the storms anticipation
With lightning dancing in the shadows....
That was a really awesome line to me. I do not know what it was aside from my complete love of storms.
It was well written and beautifully worded.

Nicely written with a traditional feel, which lingers as it takes you along. Some very effective images such as crashing warriors juxtaposed with individual static grains of sand. Color, texture, motion, etc. are on equal footing with sound in this symphony - each taking the role of a section in an orchestra.

The Otep
The images in this poem are wonderful and unique! favorites: raindrops swimming in sincopation, and the breeze whimpers, and crisp orange-red blood filling each leaf. I like the upbeat ending too.

Did you take a class or something lass?
Christ Alesha!
You are so in tune and aware of the fact that writing poetry is like writing a movie or play...
you want to put the observer or reader where you want them to be to feel the magic you want to project.
Stopping to smell the roses were never quite put in such poetic form.
What stratosphere in that sweet little mind did the second verse come from?
You have painted your masterpiece!
You must give back the good Lords rose colored glasses,
for even he would need them
to see the world as you and your holiday heart sees the wonders that surround us.
You are a blessing to this site lass,
and you are my personal blessing from above.
Much love my 'lil' gypsy,
LOWELL

Oh, this is beautiful! It's true that people don't see the beauty that they should- I think this would be enough to open their eyes!
