the Song of the Old Lovers

Oh I want to talk to you
    from behind the disheveled leaves
    that have become my face,
I want to touch you with Venus’s finger,
    laugh along side the fireflies
    that dance inside your eyes.
For I have become a wandering stranger of late,
unable to find my way home.
Our bed as empty as the moon without a sky,
    the oxygen of our love
    somewhat quiet these days,
but still resurfacing now and then,
to rekindle the candle that collects dust
in the living room of our history.
Do you remember those long nights
    of conversation and bodily passion,
when there were no ghosts to haunt us,
    no domestic pressures
    to unravel our commitment
    to the delicate flower
    we planted in the garden
    of soft tickles and whispers?
Well, I am ready to renew the dry soil
with the moisture of my loins,
    with the singing embrace
that I have forgotten to compose.
So come to me tonight and lets see if we can
    reopen Heaven’s gate
    and walk through it
    with our hands and hearts
    unabashedly united.

Thanks Nic . . . I kinda hesitated posting this one, thought maybe it was a little bit sloppy emotionally, almost foreign to the way I scribble most of the time . . .

oh this is a deep sigh, Marc...a sigh all of us who have walked the walk and traveled far in our journeys and our relationships (and our bodies) can relate too. Beautifully written...yes, these sighs are the heart's smiles.
