This very moment shall be taken as a snapshot
Frozen, never ever to return again,
If you don't stop, breathe, enjoy it right now
Then surely there has been no lesson learned, my friend
Last eve, I was blessed watching my lil precious Trenton
He's nineteen months old, a firecracker, that's for sure,
And each moment that he is here playing with his Mamo
I shall treasure, as long as God let's my life endure
For if I blink, in a moment, he'll be an instant teenager
If I for one second hold my breath, or close my blueberry eyes,
Next time I open them, he'll be driving away in a big ole truck
Down the driveway of life, waving at Mamo with tears in her eyes
Now it's morn, he's gone back home with his darling momma
My bubbly Dezmyn, who's now the ripe ole age of twenty one,
Just a moment ago, she was also nineteen month's old
And all I did was blink, and now she has her own lil son
So stop, smell the roses, coffee, and all of the above
Enjoy each fleeting moment, they pass by in a flash,
You will never experience, or ever get another chance
To go back and rerun that winning fifty yard dash.
Frozen, never ever to return again,
If you don't stop, breathe, enjoy it right now
Then surely there has been no lesson learned, my friend
Last eve, I was blessed watching my lil precious Trenton
He's nineteen months old, a firecracker, that's for sure,

Author notes
All I did was blink, and it's twenty one years later. Don't let it happen, it's not worth the pain that never goes away. Enjoy your family, you may not get a second chance.

Time passes too quickly
Life passes so quickly and before you know it, another year is gone. So right you are, every day, every hour, every minute and every second should be made to count, for once gone, we can never go back there. Thanks for sharing this moment and thank you too for your comment on my poem.

wonderful write and so right. I can't believe all the time that has gone by when I think back... I once crawled... then walked... then played sports... walked down the isle... and all this was just a moment ago.

I can Totally....
relate to this my daughter will be eighteen on November 6th..I am freaking out that she'll be leaving after graduation this summer...Time really did go by like the blink of an eye...Luckily I have tons of video of her when she was a small child and actually wanted to love on me that I can put in the dvd player and re-live a little bit of those memories...But it just isn't the same....Thanks for sharing this it was quite thought provoking!!!~~Toni~~

This very moment shall be taken as a snapshot
Frozen, never ever to return again,
Now I have this image ingrained in my head, and I'm breathing and enjoying my morning. Thank you for this wonderfully beautiful poem. My precious newborn is suddenly in first grade, no longer wanting to hold my hand to cross the street. Breaks my heart that he's growing up so quickly. Thanks for the reminder. -
OMG you've brought tears to my eyes.
This has really inspired me beyond words to do what you've just told.
I too have children and I don't spend as much time with them as I can and should. Truely this is an eye opener for me.
Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful write.

I think this is a beauty!
I think though that this line 'or close my blueberry eyes,' would look better as 'or close my berry blue eyes.'
When I read blueberry eyes I thought of berries in your eyes, was a humorous thought, don't know if you wanted that to happen.
wonderful poem.

Wonderfully Written!
I absolutely adore what you have wrote here. I felt each & every word that you penned. I to have two boys that are growing up so quickly it hurts. It really seems like yesterday when they we're born. Thank you for taking me on a trip down memory lane. Also for showing me to hold on to what really is important. Great write... Good luck in the contest... In Love & Light... Blessed Be! ~~Iridessa MoonFlower
