as we strolled along
on our shadows of regret
and little specks
of innocent memories
we thought of autumn and how
it always brought
a certain excitement,
a chill in the air,
a freshness in your eyes
sunlight streamed through
the reds and yellows
and touched your iris
and lighted up your soul
as our hands entwined,
sending leaps of happiness
and a certain romance
which had never been awoken before.
