Skin Slithers Softly

Her skin slithers softly
Shaking centuries of age
Layer upon layer sheds to the ground
Clean clear skin caresses ancient wounds
A cleansing ritual performed by many
Thousands of years old
Never written down
Never transcribed into thousands of words
Languages or meanings
The truth simple yet profound
Unable to be seen, read or heard
Transformation only able to be felt
Skin slithers softly
As she takes her final shake
Disappearing into a void in the ground
Skin slithers softly

Well it's easy at first to stay with the image of a snake shedding its skin...

but then we are held more in this, as an archetypal idea and principle, to consider in a wider way. A main one being to apply the idea to our own selves and in a way not necessarily so easy to put into words.

This idea of transformation is associated with the snake, I believe, in the Tradition of the Toltecs. Being swallowed by a large, long two headed snake, to then make ones way along during the transformation process to reappear out of the other mouth at the end of the journey.

If some of what I see was indeed what was intended, then I can't help wonder if the ending could have opened this idea up more, rather than returning into the hole in the ground.
However your way does seem to complete the piece very well and perhaps I am just too greedy for the exposure and unfolding of mystical meanings.

I think it written great, although I'd have left the 'skin' well behind rather than returning to it so immediately

Thank you for your intriguing piece!

    Sol
