Oh, lo-
fly away sweet bird of mine,
for of whom do you think I dream?
While still-shaking wings trace my slumbering mind
The day's shimmering memories gleam.
To who's name do you think that I whisper awake,
A murmur fresh from the Earth's End?
With a longing my quick, feeble heartbeat can't take,
I'd catch the sky just to hold you again.
And by sweet lips of the gods and the dark of the trees,
I seek out among bountiless stars
All the nights we allign with Infinity,
And the Earth and much more could be ours.
But fading back to solid ground,
I know not what I'll find-
You, beside me breathing, without a sound-
And for once not a trick of my mind.
