God-Man weeping for one who’s sleeping.
The world looks on in amazement.
They think they see His grief seeping.
But this is not what He meant.
Why do You weep, King o’ love so deep?
Is it because death is wrong?
Is it because You’ll end his sleep,
When death will come again so strong?
Do You weep, yearning to keep,
The promise You’ve made for Your own?
You’ve fire within for those who sleep;
For those Death had sown.
“Hear, O four winds, come to him!”
You pray within Yourself.
"Let it end, this curse of sin."
You call to him, and he is helped.
God-Man keeping for those sleeping.
The promise the angel commands.
The Victory of God comes, reaping
The children of the Son of Man.
They go to Him, for they must,
Before those who remain.
Death’s grip on them is in the dust.
Glory for the highest Name!
