Comfort From Daddy

Daddy, you ask, Why did you have to go
Why my darling child, don’t you know

The Lord was waiting for me to answer his call
Saying how he needed me most of all

I explained to him about leaving you behind
But he already knew what was on my mind

Telling me that I had naught to fear
That it was time to leave you dear

Now my job in heaven is one I adore
I guard your movements from the shore

I know it isn’t the same as it was on earth
But I still rejoice at my brand new birth

The worldly troubles are no longer around
Gone is my mortal body to drag me down

I walk on streets paved of the richest gold
My wings are shiny and oh so bold

I’m holding a spot right next to me
For you to fill when it’s time to flee

Daughter, when your work on earth is through
I’ll be standing here to open the gate for you
