Above All

Adulthood is thrust my direction.
It is without instructions.
A do-it-yourself lifelong project.
Its material is anything but structured,
as if liquid water was used for igloos.
Pondering our interests, we are left blinded,
I don't know what I want; we cry.
King and Country is all I've known,
but soldiering is unlike flying.
This wind makes adulthood worthwhile.
So pleased with my instructions,
I chant, I chant, I chant,
Together, we chant, Air Power.
Above all.

This poem is about my seemingly lack of direction, and then how I decided I was going join the Air Force one way or the other.

    this is very good! I love the metaphor and thought process behind this. we all feel like this at one time or another for sure! Amazing job describing such a common problem.

    I Got the Instruction Manuel for Adulthood

    ...and looking back on your page, seeing which groups you're a part of, you might have the instruction manual, or should I say "Instructional Manual?"

    I have learned life it not "do-it-yourself", as many believe. We can walk by faith, and not by sight; we can have a sight beyond sight.

    Oh, Flo! I heart breaks for you, and I appreciate these words. They do have their place, because many feel as you do.

    You are dearly loved by Someone far greater than the rest of us all.

    It's a steadfast love. He's not a tame Lion!
