Steel Magnolias

Cream, sensual petals, bow in pure acquiesce
glow radiant reflection, supreme holiness,
lending soft shadow during lengthening hours
relentless, succumbing, fresh, copious showers.

Wind becomes stronger as clouds slowly gather in
sky darkens gradually, covering tightened skin,
hairs raised up, in strong tension, from friction embalmed
two similar situations, uptight or calm.

Dashed oak-leaves lay strewn, on rain-soaked woodland footpath
torn emotions linked to life's emotional wrath,
yet there in a special space stand insignias
not ruined nor broken, but steel magnolias.

Author notes

Film Steel Magnolias starring: Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakas Julia Roberts. One of my all time great movies.
An oak tree always gives one the illusion of strength, yet its leaves still fall and decay... a magnolia has been known to whether the storm and still stand fast despite its delicate, beautiful petals.
