The road to heaven may seem quite far
When you live your life in sin.
But your journey there is quick and sure
Once you give your heart to him.
Throughout the ages we lived a lie
And thought ourselves divine
We didn't think that those we meet
Are brothers in our lives.
From the fall of Troy to the Roman’s march
We smiled as they died.
From Vietnam to Afghanistan
We piled bodies high.
We even said it was all His will
Their deaths were preordained!
How foolish we were to kill them all
And use God’s holy name.
The day of reckoning will one day come
And with it, His Holy Wrath.
Let those who thought to gain from God
In misery.. ever last.

Oh my how true this is
I cry every time I think of the countries killing as they do for its not the countries its the few that brings hate to the world .So sad it isd that the leaders of the few causes so much devistation and death when will it ever stop

It is a sad fact that religion has the effect on folks that seem to determine that their beliefs are the only ones and all other must be whipped from the face of the earth Perhaps that is why i have no religious leanings I have been one of those soldiers who were taught to hate the perceived enemy
A fine piece Good luck in the contest

Definitely worth reading again. Some is encouraging, and others; well very powerful. THank you for entering.

Thanks Sam, I edited it somewhat from its original form to make it smoother. I did the same with the other one.
Yes it is a poem that offers encouragement for those who think it impossible to go from where they are to where He is.. And warns, powerfully..I hope.. what the fate of some war mongers could be.
The change from one form to the other, is deliberately forceful.. If you in your little world, drugs, lies, and petty crimes, think you are so bad, take a little look at a really bad person.. The idea is... you are not as bad as you think.

This is a great poem
A truely wonderful job you have done here. From your opening to the last word fantastic. Killing in the name of God has stuck in my craw since I can remember. It rings like peace or I'll kill you. Thank you for sharing your poetry and for your service to our country. We all are indebted to you. Reguards, Boog

Powerful and thought-provoking ...
your words addressed my very soul.
Lesser I become and humble, the longer I tread this earth. None owes me anything but I am in debt to many. Whether we kill by sword or by word, the act remains murder.
Oh Brother in Christ! May your soul be freed of all that burden you; may you be lighter than Light -- adrift in the warmth of his Love.
Write your words with silent joy. The words are engraved in his Shrine.
