Slipping Away

I can feel you slipping,
Out of your own existence.
Inside I'm totally tripping,
But outside I put up my defense.

You are killing yourself bit by bit.
It makes my heart simply bleed,
Watching you slowly commit,
Horrible acts and succeed.

I can see you fading away,
In your frail and fragile body and your mind.
I know you are here today,
But I hope future doesn't leave you behind.

I actually do care,
Though I sometimes deny.
So I will leave a prayer,
And hope you never die.


Author notes

My sister is currently in hospital for another suicide attempt and for severe anorexia. She and I don't really get along but I actually do care about her but I can never say it to her face. Mum says she might not make it to the end of this year, if she doesn't kill herself her organs have the chance of killing her because they are slowly shutting down from lack of food.
This isn't really the best poem but it's true emotion.

    This is honesty, and believe me when I say it shows in your writing! I hope and pray your sister is well now. Congratulations on winning the trophy! You deserved to make it to the top in this one!

    Its a good poem,
    i like it becasue it has emotions!!!
    This is how i feel about my aunt!!
    even though she knew she had lung cancer
    she continued to smoke!!!
    We all tried to stop her but she would sneak off by herself and smoke,

    Yeah, agreed. Though im not one to talk, getting emotion out really helps, and this is really an area people really must.

    Wow ashlie, this one is deep, especially when you opened up in your authors notes. im glad they're there. this poem is some great work from you because you get the raw emotion coming out, thats the best time. i hope your sister does get better, although she might be too far gone, considering her organs shutting down, This is sad and scary, i hope she does get through it all, i wish she could understand the importance of food and mentally sanity. get better kaitlyn! and another brilliant write ashy.
